Can a Woman Drive a Big RV?

In this RVtravel.com weekly video tip, Candy Wood, Vice-President of RVingWomen.org, answers the question posed by many novice women RVers, "Can I drive a big recreational vehicle?" This was videotaped at The Rally in Redmond, Ore., in July, 2007.

  3. My 83 year old mom drives a 30 foot Class A...and she can park it (forward or back-in) like threading a needle!

  4. What an insulting title! Of course a woman "can"; whether she chooses to drive or not is a lifestyle choice, not a gender imperative.

  5. I didn't find this helpful at all. I wasn't seeking a "hoo'ra" for women, as we have proven ourselves many times over in the last 30 years. Nothing left to prove. This was just an advertisement for RVing women and their driving school and not what I was seeking.

  6. This topic may seem very silly to some of you, but the fact is at RVtravel.com this is a question that comes up often enough that we know that some women are, indeed, apprehensive about driving a big RV. It may be a big motorhome she bought with her husband, who did ALL the driving. And then one day he died, leaving her with the RV. So, to any woman -- or anyone who questions whether they can drive a big RV -- perhaps a bit of encouragement isn't so bad. And Maryann who suggested this was an ad for RVing Women -- well, Maryann, I bet only 10% of women RVers even know about this group. And it needs to be better known because it performs a valuable service. This is not an ad. -- Chuck Woodbury, editor, RVtravel.com
